Parents play an important role in protecting their children from abuse. The school is required to consider the safety of the pupil and should a concern arise professional advice will be sought with the safeguarding desk at Family Connect prior to contacting parents. Parents will then be contacted, and the school will continue to work with parents to support the needs of the child.

The school aims to help parents understand that the school, like all others, has a responsibility for the welfare of all pupils and has a duty to refer cases to Social Services in the interests of the child.

As a school, if we feel children are being abused through extremism, we will consult in the normal way with the safeguarding desk and seek advice as to if to make a referral to the „Prevent‟ team ( prevent@westmercia.pnn.police.co.uk ). As with all referrals it will be dealt with appropriately with professionals.
