I have been a governor for many years, both in Telford and in my native Wolverhampton.  I believe in the excellent life experiences and learning opportunities afforded by catholic education.  I am a director of my own company here in Telford and that allows me to give time to take an active interest in the life of both our federated schools. I work mainly with charities and the voluntary sector, offering advice on a range of issues. Of Irish heritage, I particularly enjoy visiting family in Ireland and exploring places of interest both here and abroad.

Married for 28 years with a grown up son I’ve lived in Shropshire for the past 13 years having worked at several locations around the UK as an Engineer in the electricity supply industry. My current role as Technical Safety Assurance Manager includes working in Dusseldorf and sitting on several UK National Energy Committees. Having responded to the request for more Foundation Governors in 2016 I’m really looking forward to helping SS Peter & Paul School become the school of choice for staff, parents and pupils in Newport and the surrounding area. I enjoy walking, cycling and playing golf.

I have been a governor at St Luke’s for five years, and I am also a director of the Out Of School Club. After my daughter attended the school some years ago I kept my links with St Luke’s, and look forward to our exciting new structure as Our Blessed Saints.

I run Green Fields Farm Shop in my working life, and have an interest in finance and staffing matters.

In my personal life I have two children, Olivia (16) and toddler Harry who keep me very busy! I love good food and an escape from the real world watching the soaps!

I am Helené Donnelly OBE, Associate Governor.  I am a nurse practitioner with over 20 years’ experience working in health and social care. I currently act as an ambassador for cultural change within the NHS. I am passionate about quality patient care and promote the importance of health and social care staff raising concerns to improve standards and safety. I enable staff to raise their concerns by offering assistance, guidance and support.

In conjunction I advise the Department of Health, NHS Improvement, Care Quality Commission and many regulators regarding raising concerns, safeguarding and improving cultures.

Through both my professional and personal experiences I feel very strongly about improving cultures within schools to challenge bullying and negative environments. To create compassionate, kind, caring, inclusive and empowering atmospheres where young individuals can thrive and reach their full potential.

I am a parent of two children at SS Peter and Paul’s Primary School and I was elected in 2016 to act as a Governor for four years. My particular interests include special educational needs, anti-bullying and safeguarding.
